The one side of the roof opens on hinges for easy filling with 4 lbs of your birdseed. We secured a slanted piece of cedar inside to help the seed flow toward to the opening.	To protect the decals from weather deterioration,  I cover them with a thick outdoor glaze.  Here you see I tape around them to create sharp lines and then I cover the entire side with two coats of clear spar urethane for overall protection.
